The dreaded captcha strikes again, works on innocent's but lets all the spammers through ::)

Thanks.

As I mentioned earlier I got the message on my 3rd post for security reasons, you must pass the remote ip to reCAPTCHA  then when I tried to resubmit the post I got a message saying error the post had already been submitted but no post shown.

The problem was there was nothing there to say what I should do.

I don't really know as I've never had to deal with the captcha but as you don't have to pass the test anymore you shouldn't be affected again.

Thanks. I lost the whole of the text of the post when it wouldn't submit and in the meantime, and the time it took,  have asked the question elsewhere.

As I said earlier, I have given up on avast.

Well there haven't been any other users having the problem you have mentioned that I can recall so I'm not sure what there is or can be sorted out, whether it was some sort of timed out problem or the captcha hadn't been completed correctly I don't know sorry.

There was no time out.

I think other users would have given up long before me and not bothered with it any further.

The captcha should only be for the first three posts, are you saying that you are still getting it ?

What browser are you using ?

Do you have any security based add-ons installed ?
Thinking of something like firefox and using NoScript and or RequestPolicy add-ons as this could be blocking of the captcha process. But even so if that was the case none of the captcha validation would have got through.

http://www.avast.com/en-us/uninstall-utility Follow the instructions, no need to manually reboot to safe mode -  the tool will ask for your permission to do it automatically.

Note that from the dropdown tab you have to choose what version of avast you are wanting to remove, run the tool for all versions ever installed.

Why are you wanting to remove avast if you don't mind me asking  ???

Thanks for your message and help.

Because I am fed up with all of this and more fed up at the suggestion of something wrong with me and/or  my PC which there absolutely isn't.

This led me to re-think my arrangements.
