Glad to hear it!  So the laptop has now run the malwarebytes and the ad scan and is now into its 2nd hour of running the OT scan, because it keeps saying "not responding' and then it does for a while, then stops again, any suggestions

OK this fix may take a while as I am going to empty all the temporary folders, and depending on how often it is cleaned it may take some time

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

Code: [Select]

mouse apparently is acting like its had 22 tequila slammers due to a "long running script" whatever that is, hope that helps, here is the scan, and i have been at this continuously so you can see how slow the ********dy thing is  :D oh and just as its about to go into meltdown, each time, it makesa terrible scritching noise, in case that helps
am back on laptop though am expecting a DNR notice to come up and its only 3 years old!

The scratching sound .. Is that coming from the hard drive area ?  It might be advisable to make a backup of your data
What is the make and model of the laptop
