Bottom line. AOS is more trouble than it's worth.
I finally agreed.
I have been using AdBlock Plus (years, using both "EasyList" and "Malware Domains" filter subscriptions) and Web Of Trust (about a year), and in Firefox security settings (Tools -> Options -> "Security" tab) I have Firefox block reported web forgeries and block reported attack sites.
While Web Of Trust is based on voting by other users and that skews results for political, religious and controversial sites, it does tend to be fairly accurate for technical sites.
When something is blocked by AdBlock Plus, I can see what rules were applied to the current page, add an exception rule, or quickly tell AdBlock Plus to not process the current page or the current site.
On the other hand, AOS has been awkward. I have had to disable various features to see certain content (e.g., weather.com videos, some of which are preceded by an unskippable short commercial, and there was another site that doesn't come to mind that wouldn't load videos until I turned off some options in AOS). Also, if one ventures into Google image search, the images load very slowly.
I finally disabled AOS.
Are there any protections offered by AOS that I am not already getting via the Avast!, Firefox security settings, and the Firefox add-ons (AdBlock Plus & Web Of Trust)?
