I got user reports using Firefox 33 and Internet Explorer, so I doubt that this is a browser addon problem.

Sorry for the basic question, but where does one find the "Scan SSL" option?

I've just been through a few dozen panels in Avast and I don't see it.  Is it part of Broswer Protection, which I don't run?

FYI, the https://prodgame07.alliances.commandandconquer.com/ link works fine for me.

It is part of the Web Shield and not the browser AOS add-on.

Settings > Active Protection > Web Shield > Customise > Main Settings - Enable HTTPS scanning.

Those with XP (and possibly Vista) won't see that option as it doesn't have the APIs required to perform this action.

Verified the same: "Page Cannot Be Displayed".  No warning from Avast 2015 that this is as a result from HTTPS Scanning.  Turning this feature off and site is good; again this is not for all HTTPS sites.

Also Avast 2015 Free is keeping this PC from entering Sleep Mode (S3).

Had to revert to V 2014 and all is well.

Please start your own topic. Your set-up is not the same as the OP.

FWIW, even though it was suggested, and would also be a good idea to start your own topic, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone with this problem and that I too noticed this with my laptop. But for me it started back with v2014. But it happened so much, even with the lid closed, my laptop was turning on and I got to the point and said screw it and now just turn it off all the time rather then let it go into sleep mode just so it can turn back on without my wanting it to.

Settings > Active Protection > Web Shield > Customise > Main Settings - Enable HTTPS scanning.
Okay, so "Enable HTTPS scanning" and "Scan SSL" as mentioned earlier in this thread are one and the same.  Thanks.  I knew about HTTPS scanning, but thought maybe there was a separate setting named specifically "Scan SSL".  You have to admit, there are a lot of panels to look through.

For what it's worth, I'm having absolutely zero problems with https: sites with that setting enabled (on Win 8.1 Pro x64).  As I mentioned above, the link provided to the "IIS Welcome graphic" (in many languages) works fine here.

Hi esm50 and others.

First think: there is not need to revert to 2014 if you are not happy with HTTPS Scanning. Just turn it OFF. (Enable HTTPS Scanning inside WebShield settings)

We would like to know the reason why some have problems. Do you see the issue with all sites or just some (which ones). What is your browser? Have you restarted since installing avast 2015?

W7-32-sp1 IE 11. Intel core I5-4590 3.3GHZ 4gb ram, Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 Mobo.  System built 6/14

Clean install of Avast 2015.  No other TSR security apps beyond native MS Defender.  Yes HTTPS disabled resolves blocked site concerns.  No  not all sites were blocked.  New York State gov site would let you past 1st page but when going to the page requiring login the result would be "page could not be displayed"  with no further info that this was a result of Avast intervention.
Note: this site did require the use of Compatibility Mode.

Main reason for going back to v 2014 was that 2015 stopped S3 sleep and this action was NOT traceable through the powercfg function.
I have used and recommended Avast for nearly 20 years without concern, and expect to try 2015 when more input yields a more solid product.

Since the topic title is "HTTPS scanning blocking most sites (inc avast forum)" and unrelated to email I took it to be web shield as that only talks about Enabling HTTPS scanning - that is what

There might be a lot of screens, but most are irrelevant when taken in context most are going to be within the same area Active Protection - which would leave the Web Shield and Email Shield the two active internet related scanners.

Scan SSL would generally relate to the Email Shield, but because of the topics title "HTTPS scanning blocking most sites (inc avast forum)" I made the jump that this wasn't about the Mail Shield and Scan SSL but about the web shield's HTTPS scanning.

Hi, we have found a bug in the code and indeed it can happen that certificates get duplicate serial numbers. The fix has been already released via an emergency update. Have you restarted recently?

Thanks Lukas. That helped to explain a lot.

It's great to see avast is involved in the forums.  8)

Just wanted to say I'm also having problems with HTTPs, Hopefully the EmUpdate will deploy soon. Until then I have disabled HTTPs then re-enabled it. This seems to have temporaily fixed the certificate https scanning issues.

Hello,
the sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial error can be solved by reinstalling avast.
