Hi

I just have upgraded Avast from the previous version to latest AVAST 10.0.0.2208 without any problems on my Windows 7 SP1 system.
Everything seems to work fine. But when looking in the event log I noticed several error messages related to VSS (ID 12294, ID 13) , Service Control Manager
( ID 7006) and Microsoft Windows Distributed COM (ID 10016) after every boot. Before Installation I have checked  the Event Log for any errors and warnings and the log was free of any errors/Warnings before for several weeks already.
I deinstalled AVAST 2015 and no error messages showed up in the Windows Event logs anymore after several boots! So AVAST 2015 must have caused the error entries. I did a clean install of AVAST 2015 again but errors were popping up again in the Logs after every boot. I looked in AVAST  (Einstellungen/Fehlerbehandlung) and unchecked  "AVAST Selbstschutz-Funktion deaktivieren". This was just a guess, that the error messages could be caused by this function.
After booting the machine the errors in the log did not show up anymore after several boots. I still have noticed a DNS warning (DNS client Events ID 1014)
"Zeitüberschreitung bei der Namensauflösung für den Namen 254.247.166.194.IN-ADDR.ARPA, nachdem keiner der konfigurierten DNS Server geantwortet hat"

So people upgrading to Avast 2015 should have a look in their Windows  logs if they also notice  error messages/ warnings caused by Avast installation.
Unfortunately disabling   the "Selbstschutz" Funktion  leaves Avast unprotected against Malware.! So I hope that the problem will be fixed by an update
as soon as possible as the error messages also may indicate that Selbstschutz even when enabled may not work as expected.

R.G

What Richard is referring to is the Avast self-defense module.

Hello,
I have a Windows 8.1 x64 system and had the known problems with the 2208-version of avast and Virtualbox.
Now the 2206-version is running and all is ok. I stopped the update to 2208.
When will this problem be fixed ?

There's still a long-standing issue with XP x64.  Please read the bug report, admins.

I recently upgraded to the 2015 10.8.2208 and had to do 2 system restores, because after I did the update, it was not letting me on facebook at all weird as heck, and it didn't matter what browser I used.  I opened a CMD window and pinged facebook could not reach it.  pulled out my I pad and that worked fine pulled out another laptop with the same update and that also worked fine. SO  I'm using 2014.9.0.2021 after my 3 system restores.  Should I just uninstall and run avast clear and re-install/ insert my lic again. can I install Pro instead of Premier?

Since update to AVAST 2015 SP1 (10.0.2208) my CAC function is broken. If I permanently disable AVAST the CAC functions fine when negotiating with enterprise email account.  What have you DONE!
