They put out another update that fixed it.  If you don't run certain programs you would not have noticed the problem.

Since Win 10 upgrade (and several updates) I frequently find that when saving docs, the application freezes and crashes, notably Word and Outlook. The MS Office support pages imply that certain versions of Avast can be the culprit, although my 11.1.2253 version isn't mentioned. Anyone know of this problem or if Avast might be the cause?

I was just checking for windows updates and at first it showed in red that my computer wasn't able to check for updates.  I run the diagnostics tool and it showed that everything had been fixed.  Then I checked for updates again and it showed ..........see screenshot.  I viewed the installed updates and it showed all that were installed on Feb. 9. This has never happened before.

Have you run any disk cleanup programs that would delete your installation history?

I'm just wondering why when I checked for updates it showed red and wasn't able to check for updates.  Also why it's showing updates have never been installed.

@Charyb........No I haven't run any disk cleanup programs.

Did you check Windows Update immediately after starting your computer? The Windows Update service needs time to start as well as the services that it is dependent upon.

I checked windows update around 7:30 this evening.  I did log off and sign in with another user account and that's when I got the red not able to check for updates, then I logged off and signed in with my administrator account and got the red warning again.

Edit.......typo

I wish now that I would have taken a screenshot of the red error I got when checking for win updates.  I didn't even think about it. :-[  My main concern was getting it fixed.

Windows 10 latest Cumulative update to 10586.122, possibly has Avast or some other conflict preventing PC into going auto sleep mode.   I've Removed Avast completely, tested with Defender, worked fine with Defender

Then disabled Defender, Restarted, make sure Defender still disabled, did clean install of Avast, attempted to see if would sleep, and never went to sleep autoly for some reason.

Started own topic on same matter, no replies though.    Defender sure scans slow even on a 8 core based system

Should I try another clean install of Avast?  should I wait til next versions out of beta?

It took 2 hours for Windows Update to find 13 updates for Windows 7.
I guess since Windows 10, Windows 7 is not priority for Microsoft.
BTW, no problems with Avast.
