Avast Customer Support Scam Join Class action Law Suit
« on: July 26, 2016, 05:53:06 AM »

(Update) I asked and received permission to record my 2 conversations (Enjoy our complimentary support anytime you think you're in trouble with Avast Antivirus) when I was told I would have to pay $175.00 for what is (Complimentary Support) And will be posting them live for the world to hear.

Along with with the below bait and switch scams on Monday 7/25/2016 Avast has has once again proved itself as the ultimate in false advertising and misleading classic bait and switch scams.

My laptop was infected by avast antivirus itself in the scan history. (I called customer support and was told I would have to pay and incredibly greedy $175.00 yes you read that correctly one hundred and seventy five dollars) That is not even the worst of it on the Avast customer support page it reads ( Enjoy our complimentary support anytime you think you're in trouble with Avast Antivirus.)

Im starting a class action lawsuit for false and misleading advertising as well as unscrupulous business practices.

ANYONE INTERESTED IN JOINING PLEASE CALL CONTACT ME at 631 331 1320

Today I received an offer to upgrade to avast premier under which it stated the clean up and password tool below the offer. I thought it was reasonable so I went ahead with the offer then realized little to nothing has changed on my account.

I posted the following message and submitted 2 tickets on 1/31/2016.

Avast had excellent reviews so I entrusted Avast in providing services above and beyond other software providers. After purchasing a 1 year license for (antivirus Pro) endless as well as extremely annoying, and misleading bait and switch tactic's appear on the control panel. 2 examples of which are 1) after completing a performance scan on the Avast control panel, I was told I have some issues. when I clicked (resolve issues) I was told I need to purchase More software   ?? 2) I clicked VPN secure on the control panel and was asked to purchase more software again  ? This is a complete and total misleading scam that often appears in software providers of much lower stature. On top of all this bait and switch nonsense, the Avast portal has a beautiful and enticing rewards panel. It appears the Avast rewards program is ever so eager for me to refer and sign up new accounts for more rewards points. The problem is Avast doesn't show me what the rewards points are good for except that fact that Avast is making more money.

I have not received a reply on either ticket submitted 15 days ago. Today I contacted Avast via phone and informed Avast I was recording the phone call just as Avast informed me they were recording the phone call. The conversation lasted about 15 minutes and I was told a supervisor would contact me within 24 hrs.

I have to agree, avast! really has to do something about their stupid "support" phone that's just pushing some "premium" support service. To this date I've never heard anything positive about it, just endless complaints and how people got pretty much scammed. Can anyone think how many years you can use avast! license for $175. And they ask this for just support itself! It's absurd.

And there we have another "person" who provides false information >:(

1]
You didn't call avast but a third party.

2]
The support for avast by that third party is free for only a very limited amount of things as you can read at the website.
Installing your Avast - Configuring your Avast - Updating or uninstalling Avast

3]

My laptop was infected by avast antivirus itself in the scan history.
avast doesn't infect systems.
The scan history is just that.
It is just a log file of things that have been scanned and the result(s).

How much changed depends on the version you had before installing premier.
A smart person would have checked the differences > https://www.avast.com/en-sg/compare-antivirus

And the problem is?
avast just tells you that it can do even more for your system/security with other products they are offering.
It is a very common practice in the software world.

Another example of someone who doesn't inform himself about things.
The reward system never has left beta and is abandoned.
No rewards where given except free licenses if you had the amount of referrals required to get one (or more).
Only thing you have to do is ask avast for it.

Please mention your ticket number here and I will have someone from avast to have a look at it.

It doesn't matter whether it's 1st or 3rd party. He called avast support. The number avast! provides. The rest we know how it goes...

The world is being torn apart by the compensation culture.  What will you achieve except the diminishing of Avast to the detriment of the many millions of those who enjoy its protection?  People and firms goof and lawyers cynically exploit that for their own profit.  Many believe that claims lawyers are now a worse problem than scammers.  We all pay through the nose for claims lawyers because they increase the overheads of business and therefore the prices but worst of all is that lawyers erode trust between people.

I value Avast because it is the best for me in an imperfect world.  It helps keep my information and computers safe.  All other AV products come with unacceptable issues.  Anyone who goes to law against Avast also harms me.

Let it not be forgotten that Avast provides many millions of computer users with highly effective FREE protection.

@ Robert 510,
You obviously were not happy with the outcome of the last thread you started:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=183001.msg1292262#msg1292262
You're the one that never supplied sufficient information to resolve your "problem".
Starting a new topic isn't going to solve your original problem.
I don't totally disagree with your disappointment in the Avast Phone Support. I've complained about it on many occasions.
Yes it's a third party support. Almost all of them are. Yes they have their own product that they push but,
as a smart and savvy shopper, you also should have know all the facts before contacting them and,
demanded the service they are obligated to provide for free. Caveat Emptor (Let the buyer be ware) is unfortunately still the law.
Starting a law suit is good for the Layers. It isn't going to solve your problem.
Simply answer the questions originally asked of you by Maroni and maybe you can resolve your problem.
This isn't going to settle anything. All it does is cause animosity which settles nothing.

I totally agree. Allowing anyone to use or be affiliated with the main source of business and in this scenario 3-rd party support reflects  on the company itself, you can't  turn a blind eye on someone who is representing you in any form or fashion and allowing them to pull every trick in the book to make a back or two.
It's like hiring babysitter without getting any police check or  persons background, its asking for potential trouble, if you allowing 3rd party support, set strict rules and make sure they follow.

For those that are obviously paid to defend Avast

1) Do you not understand the sentence (Enjoy our complimentary support anytime you think you're in trouble with Avast Antivirus) on the Avast home page. It does not matter if its a 3rd party or not its false advertising as well as misleading.

2)My laptop was absolutely infected by Avast antivirus itself, how could you possibly tell me or anyone else otherwise if you do not know the facts.

The only ones paid to defend Avast are those that are clearly marked as Avast employees.
Having read your prior thread, you didn't supply anything Avast needed to answer and still haven't.
Why are you not willing to work with Avast to settle this ???

You cant be serious (You did read the ticket I submitted) your making a baseless claim simply because all the information was on the 2 tickets submitted to Avast support (AVAST NEVER RESPONDED TO)

Did you not read the post right above yours that states:

-The first problem never got solved because (AVAST NEVER RESPONDED TO MY TICKET) is there something you do not understand regarding the word NEVER

Please read the posts before you make a baseless claim

Thank You

Hello robert510!

I remember I replied to the only question in your ticket here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=183001.msg1293635#msg1293635
Why do you insist that nobody replied?

Yes, I then closed your ticket because 1) there was no other question to reply to and 2) you said that you will be sending a BBB complaint, to which we waited to reply to altogether to the ticket but we never received it.

I am sorry that you feel scammed by our phone support, but unfortunately your issue is uncertain. What do you mean by My laptop was infected by avast antivirus itself in the scan history?
Be aware that the complementary phone support only includes installation, configuration and re/uninstall, as stated in https://www.avast.com/en-us/total-support

I hope that this time you help us help you. Spreading threats and hate will not resolve anything.

HOW CAN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT WORKING FOR OR DEFENDING A COMPANY THAT (OUTRIGHT SCAMS PEOPLE). Ever here the term karma?

Sorry robert510 but this thread, same as the previous one, is not going anywhere. Threats, insults and baseless claims (i.e. your claim that I didn't read your ticket) will not help anyone nor solve anything. I am thus closing this thread.
If you had or have a real problem and are expecting a real resolution from us, feel free to contact us anytime.
