If you don't use Opera as your default browser, (I currently don't) add it to your arsenal of Layered Protection.
You'll notice that I've changed my settings to have VPN Enabled whenever I launch the browser.
Since Opera now offers VPN for free to everyone, it's great whenever you are using Open WiFi.
If you can afford it, using Avast SecureLine is still your best choice. if you can't, open Opera any time you're using Open WiFi.
(I know that Eddy has used Opera as his default browser for a long time.)

Per reply # 640:  Apparently you are right.  Newest version is 40, old was 39 stable.  Now have VPN which seems to work well enough.

They claim that on websites as YouTube, Reddit and the New York Times, the usage of memory is 50% lower.

The JavaScript virtual machine compiles JavaScript to native machine code.
With the HTML5 standard, a lot of (or at least parts of) JavaScripts can be replaced by HTML code.
This would make sites already faster/make browsers use less memory as there is less to compile.
