I just had a thought, i've used this method to install build 7600(don't ask me where i got the key) over 7264(and a few earlier builds before that) but all of these were the Ultimate version. I think this upgrade method doesn't work if you want to install the Home version over the RC(RC is Ultimate), really not sure about the Professional version ... So if you get Win 7 Home i think you'll have to do a complete reinstall. I'm gonna do a reinstall anyways after i get my hands on a legal copy of Win 7 rtm, cause i really want to do it "clean" not to mention i'm a "pirate" right now and don't feel comfortable with that. Back when i first installed the RC i just did an upgrade from Vista to Win 7 RC and then a few more upgrades as more RC builds were available. Not saying that there's something broken over here but i really think a complete reinstall is the best option to avoid any potential issues that may arise with all this upgrading i did.

Cheers !
You are correct Mikey. Only works on the Ultimate version.

Bob, I think you have the wrong link there, leads to the google voice scandal from the other thread ???

edit: I'm guessing it is this one: http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=23089

I wouldn't mess with any of them, they sound fairly important...(as far as my knowledge goes anyway ;))

The DNS Client isn't essential, depending on your use, mine is set to Manual (I don't disable if any doubt then anything that requires it can start it) and it has never started.

Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

1: DNS Client Disagree.  It is only needed if the system is part of a corporate network using Active Directory domain controllers:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/dns_client.htm

If you are using a large HOSTS file such as hpHosts then it will really slow down the browser.

I agree the rest especially with:
10: Automatic Updates

There are so many people that disable this because they do not trust Microsoft.
I have not had a problem having Automatic Updates active.

At least they should have Notify me about updates but do not download them nor install them

I use the default Host file so for me there isn't anything to to slow me down.

You must love all those adverts and tracking cookies ;D

You can use a HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers. This is accomplished by blocking the connection(s) that supplies these little gems.

The cookies get deleted daily as a routine and I don't get any "adverts"  ;D
(When there's nothing to hide, tracking cookies are meaningless.)

Happy Birthday Google Chrome

One year ago, Google Chrome came out of nowhere to re-ignite the browser debate.
Today, it's reached (development) version 4.0, and it's anchoring a much-anticipated operating system.
Here's a look back at where Chrome's been in 12 short months.
