For the ones using XP that don't want to use Internet Explorer to update Windows, check Comodo Program Manager.
Still on beta and for Comodo forum users only  8)

When it leaves the beta phase it will be here: http://www.comodo.com/products/comodo-products.php

There is little point providing comodo links to what appears to be restricted areas as you have to have registered to be able to view the content you gave the links to.

For me I would have to have a huge leap of faith to trust comodo to handle windows updates, much as I dislike using IE, I would rather use that than use comodo to manage updates.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Sorry. I did not know that. I'll logout and test.

Well, it's an a priori decision. I've tested in my virtual XP and the updates are very good managed.

1. I never have had any problems with a Windows Update doing them the normal way
2. I see no reason for that Comodo program to even exist. They keep coming up with all these new things that almost without exception have serious flaws when they are released. The only Comodo program I have tried and liked was CIS and I have now grown disenchanted with it as well.

Sarcastic post. Respect. If I'm doing anything wrong, I should be corrected by avast team, not from your cheap criticism.

no that was not the appropriate wording, Tech, you're the cheap guy here, most likely paid by Mozy and a few others to promote crap software on Avast forums, you even got a link to Comodo forums in your sig now, are you mad or what, you'd be banned anywhere else for promoting the competition the way you do here, not mentioning that you're talking to the devs here as if they were your kids: "done a very bad job with that build people" etc... ::)
Who are you, you're a bored user logged in 24/7 using "tech" as a pseudo when it's so obvious that you're not one ;D and I insist: how many posts about Comodo a day have you been posting for the past several weeks ???

ps: how much do you get per click on your links in the general topic section?

Well the comodo link is useless as it its to a restricted location only available to registered users on the comodo beta forum.

Oh come on now. Get off the man's back. Tech does a great job on helpdesk. And that first reply to the OP is all important, Tech takes it upon himself to answer those OP calls day in day out. I know there are others that also do this, but so what, doesn't make his effort any lesser importance. Even if he annoyed me to high hell, like actual promote Comodo brand, I would still make an exception in his case.

I think that Tech's real issue is with the potential that the cloud can provide to the antivirus software, in particular with firewall that can sit in cyberspace and be run through the browser. Obviously if the user has antivirus software run as browser then various options are open to the devs, and Tech has been asking questions about these options. With reference to Comodo I think perhaps because their cloud scanner indicates a direction they look to take, where the user need not power a security center through desktop but rather through specialist online Servers that have various services designed to fulfill the users security needs. I don't want to speak for Tech, but my feeling is that he suspects Commodo are being the more innovative of the two brands. In street speak, they are stealing a march on Avast.

I see good reason to keep pace with what Comodo are doing and I imagine Avast is taking notes on their moves.

Also, remember that Tech uses VM ware to trial and test software releases. He is likely to be impatient for  cloud initiatives, particularly in view of news reports that tell us that the entire computer industry have or soon will have bought into the cloud concept to some degree or other. In the cloud scenario, the firewall will be seated more or less in the equivalent of a demilitarized zone (the external attacker only has access to host in the DMZ) such that host services powered by desktop processor are less exposed (if not wholly eliminated) as the attack vector. Possibly, also, browser is always sandboxed. And obviously, very conducive to VM ware. On the surface of things anyway.

Time machine I think is standalone Comodo module, may run okay with avast. But I do not know these Comodo things as I have no experience with Comodo at all.

I feel happy to stand up for Tech. I sleep well with that thought.
And partly because for the first time  I am having update problems with IE (the kb979909 issue, which is .NET downloads), if I don't solve soon and with easy method (no uninstall) then I will probably post the problem to the forum.
Avast7 Free, MBAM (on demand), MVPS Hosts

Seems Comodo still aren't bothering to check who they're supplying SSL certificates to. Nice to know they give a damn isn't it.

just about that:

Quote
Commodo are being the more innovative of the two brands

you must be kidding, besides they main product (CIS) they're only producing crapware to attract customers. Comodo would be more innovative than Avast  ::) I think it's just the contrary. CIS4 is a revisited version of V3, while Avast produced a brand new interface (not just the UI okay...) with V5. And again, 90 percent of Comodo products can be happily ignored. they have a good firewall and a good hips, and that's it. The rest is a pure shame, and I'm saying that without any hesitation, all the rest is a pure shame and reflects a company marketing policy policy not taking software development seriously, and attempting to fool the users with a bunch of utilities that no one needs. It's just not a serious company.
I'm sure the security sofware community as well as many users have more respect for Avast than for Comodo. It's two different worlds. Avast is an honest company, Comodo is not. Brand new innovation? oh yeah...>>> Comodo dragon,? what else, freaking time machine? the guys have no idea how to develop or produce this sort of software; they're just being pushed by the the guy in charge there...3 new programs a week should be the quota there ;D You know what, Comodo software reminds me of a circus, with various artists appearing successively and doing their number :D
