Unlike the VTzilla Firefox extension, it does not embed an additional "Scan with VirusTotal" option in the browser's file download dialog (mainly because Chrome's API does not allow to do so). Having said this, it does include a top menu bar popup that enables quick VirusTotal searches and direct submission of the page being viewed to VirusTotal.

Well the right click function is only there for the purpose of scanning a site link and without that right click menu entry how is it possible to have the link pre-scanned.

So it really isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned, but it is there for URL scans which require a right click entry as many other such link scanners do. So it is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. It is IMHO a bit late to scan a page when you are already on it, the idea of the right click scan is pro-active, so two different functions, which you can't really compare.

David, seems I could not get what you want to say, as I've tested it, you can right click and scan a link before you visit, also you can scan a page when you have visited it now, same about your downloads, it's better than nothing, also easier than copy link and paste in their site or?

Surely to right click it must have a context menu entry were you scan scan as I don't think that they yet have a mind reading function to know what you want to do, save file, open in new tab, etc.

I just can't see how they can do that without having some sort of selection, e.g. menu (a right click menu). Obviously I'm not speaking from personal experience (just logic) as I don't use Chrome, I have tried it a few times and it has never survived very long before being uninstalled; I just like my add-ons and configurability of firefox...

It works like a charm David, Simply right click on a link inside Chrome and the following pop up appears.

Yes, I'm sure it does, but the point of the to and fro is because I believed their spiel said that they didn't add an extra entry to the right click menu, which is clearly the case.

Now if they are saying/mean something other than the right click menu, that is a different ball game, in which case I can't see VTzilla having added anything to any download dialog in my firefox download dialogue.

Already created a thread about that... you can check it, here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=67280.0

Yes it is... if you read carefully you will be able to see on the bottom of the page 3:
