warning: that was expected as I saw it going on during the install...the setup of nero kwik removed the latest MS security update patch for c++2005 ... and replaces it with the same package
That's ridiculous ::) KB2467175 ... and now Windows Update doesn't detect it anymore and wants to install it again...

edit: I've re-installed the WinUpdate version (no idea what the difference is), and now nero kwik refuses to start...

edit: works again after a reboot

1 GB hard drive space for a typical installation of all components

That ridiculous in my opinion. It also installs Silverlight which I've never seen a use for. I'll stick with Ashampoo that includes a Lightscribe enabled labeling utility.

I'm not forcing you to install it.  ;D
Once I've finished playing with it, I may come to the same conclusion.
I also have Ashampoo's excellent product on my system.  :)

Nero -1 in my computer... It's a bloatware that wants to do everything in the computer. From burning CD to washing my teeth :P
I know the free is only for burning... But it's my prejudice against bloatwares... Sorry.

We are having a problem here with the same C++2005 update. It worked fine on my XP machine and even said it was uninstalling the older version as a part of updating. On the Vista machine, even though it says it was successfully applied, if you search for available updates, there it is wanting to be installed again. We have not touched Nero Kwik.

XP end of support is scheduled to 2014.

this is still more ridiculous, when you expand the gadget you see that... while you already run Vista or Seven ::)
