Well, seems like the issue is spreading. Well Again just a few mins ago i thought of trying out the internet security trial for 20 days since it also said that it will return to free av after the trial so went out and checked it, it told to restart and well. Ended up with the same thing. This is becoming extremely frustrating to me to deal with this issue as this is a clean installation it happened in the same one but luckily i got it to work by clicking on restart service the last time. It had failed and avast as a provider has failed for me as well but i still hope that the next update will provide a stable UI. and i have no clue about what product to use now either.

Kaspersky free is to aggressive the cloud thing just removes everything it feels is bad..
Comodo Cloud AV is ok but it takes a lot of time to scan and shows lots of popups.
Bitdefender Free is not full enough does not seems to have the pack.
Avira has that additional launcher thing which is so damn irritating to have. avira connect yew.

and the pure habit of using avast since 2007 is what's still keeping me here.  :-[

Did a search and at least 12 Separate cases of the same issue was reported around the forum.

Has there been no remedy for this problem?

I've been looking all over the internet for a solution.

I've tried it all-  Repairing Avast, Reinstalling, turning on Terminal Services and BITS to run automatically...

I'm on XP Service Pack 3.

This is driving me nuts!  Every 10 minutes..  Avast UI is down!

Can someone from Avast address this?!

Thanks for the reply Bob3160.

I've done the clean install several times.

The "Avast is down" message with the red X always returns.

But,  I do notice now that when I do the clean install, I get a message saying that Malwarebytes is incompatible with Avast.  I don't know when this started because I have been using the two together for years.  So I put the exclusions for Malwarebytes under the "Components" section of Avast.  It does no good.  I still get the "Avast is down" message every 10 minutes.

I personally no longer use Malwarebytes simply because it's become a system hog and really doesn't catch anything that Avast doesn't already catch. Avast not only protects you from "virus" but protects you from all Malware.

But many people use other software for anti-malware.  I don't understand why Avast is now saying that it is incompatible with Malwarebytes every time I reinstall.  When did this happen?  Like I said, I've been using them together for a long time.

This "Avast UI failed to load" is really frustrating.  It constantly freezes the computer and you have to stop what you are doing and restart the service.  After searching the internet and never finding a solution, I had to join the forum.  I've used Avast for years with no problem, but this thing is beyond annoying.  It's difficult to get anything accomplished when you have to stop every 10 minutes.

I just received the update from Avast for the new version.  I'll see what happens.

Asyn:

I put in all of those exclusions for Malwarebytes.

I just updated the definitions for the new version of Avast.

Shortly after, I got the red X saying "UI failed to load".

This is infuriating.  I guess it will just be another day where I have to restart and operate in Safe Mode, because I can't deal with this today.

If you're running Malwarebytes Pro, it contains an antivirus program that conflicts with the Avast software.

Thanks for the reply Jenniferl.

I'm using the free version of Malwarebytes Premium.  I've been using the same versions of Malwarebytes and Avast for years.  The first message I got about them being incompatible was during a recent reinstall of Avast.  I had never seen that before.

If you're using the Premium version than it's a trial of the paid version.
