Problem after the last update when starting the Avast UI
« on: October 04, 2017, 08:51:52 PM »
After today's update the Avast UI looks like below for just a few seconds then disappears, and then the Avast icon in the notification area also disappears.

That's actually intentional - Avast is using a new preloader for the UI, Opening the UI should be quicker, but without real data which will then load after 1-2 seconds.

This new preloaded was introduced in v17.6.

Tried this?   https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204#artTitle
Followed your advice and tried it but that did not change anything.

I will try a complete uninstall/install.

Did you read my post? This isn't a bug and clean install will change nothing.

The clean install solved the problem.
What caused this problem? We will probably never know.
Case closed.

open the gui by clicking virus chest in tray icon, then enable smart scan in settings. developers arent so smart as this scan.
try yourself this bug disabling the smart scan.
