I have the same problem where Behavior Shield is not activating upon computer reboot. I get a red mark on the tray icon. It started about a week ago.

Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 1909 (build 18363.1016)

Avast indicating that definitions and version are up to date.

Avast 20.6.2420 (build 20.6.5495.588)

Avast repair did not fix the issue.

I keep my computer clean and tidy without junk buildup. It is lightly used. It has good specs.

I have never had a problem with Avast until now.

There is no log to check or that I can provide you to understand if this "Behavior Protection" is it actually active or not ?
You can check here: C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report
mmmmmmmmm... ok. If i remember before to reboot or shutdown my pc i delete all files from this path.
In this mode i thinks it's can possible to see what's appened on next boot :)

Apparently we have another member whit same issue upper here........... i have read it's say your it's have a  good specs hardware.... it's really important the hardware installed on pc ?

You have the possibilities to do a clean installation ? How it's old your installation ? On your pc you have used a different AV app before to install Avast ?

I don't want to do a clean installation. There are too many settings to fix. I have used only Avast for a few years now.

I have heard that if the computer boots slowly, the Behavior Shield does not have enough time to boot, so it does not boot. That is why I mentioned the computer specs.

I just did a Boot Time Scan. It took a couple of hours. It did not find any malware. However, I did not get the Behavior Shield error when the computer restarted.

I hope this continues.

You can save, backup your existing settings in the UI Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting before a clean reinstall and then restore those settings after the clean reinstall and restart.

I wasn't aware of the Backup feature, although I had thought it should be there somewhere.

So thank you for mentioning it.

I have not had good luck with backups where there are a lot of settings. It seems hit or miss.

The last boot did not mess up, so I will give it another chance. The laptop shuts down every day at 3 am to clear out any logins in case I conk out, so there is a fresh boot every day to see if the problem is fixed.

However, I also used the settings backup function and, after the clean reinstall, i have reapplyed whitout any problems but this apparently didn't help me solve the problem.

as I said the protections that do not activate at startup seem to be random..... this time i didn't reinstall the "Ransomware" protection but the problem persists with the "Behavior" protection.
Luckily there doesn't seem to be any problems with the primary and main realtime virus protection..............

And again today..... i have turn on my pc and at boot same issue again "Behavior Password" not activated and red cross on system tray.

I have try to look on log on REPORT folder (C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\report) and apparently there's no info about this issue.

On previous day i have try to delete this files before to shutdown or reboot windows but i can't because windows say "this files it's in used by Avast Antivirus".

I can attach this files......... some dev can say if it's can found some information about this issue ?

When you say "turn on my pc", I assume you mean startup after a normal Windows shutdown or sleep/hibernation.
Can I suggest you do a "Restart", which will result in a proper reboot of your system.
(The shutdown/startup cycle is not a proper reboot, but more an exit from hiberhation which sometimes results in cumulative startup issues over time.)
Some people here on the Forum have stated 2 Restarts are needed after a new version of Avast is installed.

Hey, same problem here, I created another thread but moved here to keep all the info in one place. I'm running Windows 10 with Avast program version: 20.6.2420 (build 20.6.5495.588) and Virus definitions version: 200818-0. I already tried running the Avira cleanup tool suggested here, I also did the whole safe cleanup and offline reinstall procedure, yet I still get the same problem turning on the pc or restarting it. Sometimes it'll be the behavior shield being turned off, other times the ransomware one. Any suggestions? Is it just the last version of Avast? I also ran a full scan to check for any malware turning off the shields, but it found nothing.
