Release Summary

This release contains new improvements and bug fixes to our Avast Business Antivirus client.

Avast Business Antivirus 21.4 will be available for new installations immediately. All existing devices will start the automatic upgrade to 21.4 at a later time.

If you wish to upgrade your devices to 21.4 prior to the automatic upgrade, then you can create a new Task (Update device – Program update task) from your console.

A system reboot will be required to complete the installation. There will be no forced reboot, unless you have set this in your device policy settings. Servers will never reboot, regardless of your device policy settings.

Important!

In this version, the Antispam feature is being removed, and will not be available in any edition of Avast antivirus. For the clients who will not update to 21.4, the Antispam feature will be remotely turned off by the end of June 2021. But don't worry! You are still protected from email attacks with our Mail Shield feature! This feature offers comprehensive email protection by proactively checking incoming and outgoing emails to ensure they are completely malware-free.


Improvements

•   Improved Wi-Fi Inspector - We now scan for even more types of threats, and we've improved the UI of our results screens
•   No more popups in streams - Good news, Windows 10 users! Our antivirus popups will no longer appear in your screen recordings and streams
•   Enhanced exceptions - Exceptions for scans and shields are now easier to add, customize, and maintain



Bug fixes for:

•   Web content opened in the app-cart instead of browser
•   Rescue Disks that booted in Windows Preinstall Environment triggered a restart [Win7]
•   IP address was missing in Web Shield connection blocker notifications
•   The last file from the multi-selection was omitted
•   Manually invoked Passive Mode did not require restart, caused some components (like CyberCapture) to misbehave
•   Web Shield samples were not detected after the URL was removed from the exceptions

Removing Anti-spam feature. Swell (yes that is sarcastic). Another reason to find a new product when my subscriptions are up.

How about giving us the option to not update the main application every six weeks without the system turning every device to "In Danger" status??

Updating 250+ machines plus dozens of servers (all which require reboots) for non-critical updates every other month is utterly ridiculous.

Of course I'm not counting the micro updates which force themselves onto our machines via VD updates (I have application updates set to manual) and force restarts for all of our users every couple of weeks.
