Hi bob3160,

Google safebrowsing will protect you with a warning and block you from going to these sites. This for instance: hxtp://totalpad.com/  (Fake AV)
-> http://www.webutation.net/go/review/totalpad.com
You get a message"This site can harm your computer" and "Take me back to safety, please!".
Had been infected through: http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=infoitpoweringgatheringit.com/&client=googlechrome&hl=nl
So when you are surfing Chrome you won't even go to these sites,
here iy is not detected: http://vscan.urlvoid.com/analysis/31d012903d1169d0d2251d4a3df190b3/aW5kZXg=/
No alert from avast Networkshield either when I go there with Mozilla,

Thanks for the explanation. I always knew using Chrome was a good idea.  ;) :)

Hi bob3160,

Well another recent example of what we encounter here. This scam had not yet been added to avast detection scandsk.exe
(9 of 42 vendors only detected this a week ago) , VT detection results see: https://www.virustotal.com/file/2fb27e8b107a91bfbf8455fe0bead948be15654fdbfc86a90f4f65037afabaca/analysis/1337207361/

Read description of this threat: -http://research.zscaler.com/2012/05/follow-up-on-top-blacklisted-sites.html (link author Julien Sobrier)

Also read what Google Safebrowsing further will protect you from: http://cyberinsecure.com/category/malware/

So indeed, bob3160, a good idea for both you and me and those that read our postings,
because Opera and IE users will miss this specific Google Safebrowsing protection,
as webmasters are oh so reluctant in cleansing their own sites
despite of the total number of Fx and GoogleChrome visitors diminishing all the time,
because of the blocking page they get shown,
the infection of  visitors to these pages goes on and on,

Stay safe and secure,

polonus

Here comes Yahoo's own Web browser -- Axis

The ability to continue your browsing on another device and the quick-search-result-view in images would be really handy. I'm wondering what the result screen would be (if any) if the website's picture could not be received for whatever reason.

Yes it would be handy if what you were working on/interested in at home on your desktop, you could continue when away from home. Essentially this is just some sort of sync tool for what you are doing if you used Axis on your desktop system. Given this is to connect to an ipad/iphone, I just wonder if the home desktop had to be a mac.

I certainly haven't and somehow don't believe I will be, since it is only compatible ipad and iphone no android app.

It's actually a plug-in app for your browser. Since it doesn't support android, I also can't really find a use for it.

The Antivirus Era Is Over

"Conventional security software is powerless against sophisticated attacks like Flame, but alternative approaches are only just getting started. Flame is just the latest in a series of incidents that suggest that conventional antivirus software is an outmoded way of protecting computers against malware."

http://www.technologyreview.com/news/428166/the-antivirus-era-is-over/

Could this be true? Flame was around for over two years and no A/V company found it.
