5.1.889 still working correctly for me including auto updating of virus definitions without a problem though brand X among my anti-virus and anti-malware batch programs did detect and fix a a hijack that had gotten through my my real time protection software; i.e. Firefox, FF Addons, AIS and Windows Defender.   However as far I can tell no harm no foul

All real-time shields are working
Anti-spam is working
Site-blocking which I just stated to use is working

whatdoesitwant, I understand perfectly.
We, users, can't solve all the technical problems, specially the new versions ones.
The avast team must jump, get interested on it, and try to solve.

i think i need to switch antivirus till more problems are fixed. what do you recommend other than avast and not mse because i had more problems with that one?

Yesterday the Behavior Shield alerted me about my mouse driver. It has never done that before. It's an old HP 4 button with wheel mouse.

Just updated to AIS 5.1.889... It's working well without any clue... 2 Thumbs for performance improvements...

AIS 5.0.667 reinstalled and everything works again, I only wish the latest version worked

avast! 5.1.889 is already working in my laptop since the day of the release with no conflicts, issues or any kind of negative performance whatsoever.
Behaviour Shield is on "Ask" and all shields working fine (with exception of P2P shield since I don't P2P programs)
Updates are performed automatically and the boot is smooth and fine.
Great work.. and good luck on the work of version 6.0.

I have not had a single problem with any of the betas and 5.1.889 is also working smoothly..waiting for version 6

Last time we started seeing something like that a new version was not far behind. Definitely would not go there to download security software.

avast! 5.1 (last stable version) was released a week and 1 day ago and you are already asking for the beta of 6.0? Chill out.. 
Is gonna be huge but you need to wait like everyone else.
As far I know avast! 6.0 is coming soon..
