Alignment of buttons on the Update page
« on: May 06, 2011, 09:12:48 PM »
Why did the Cancel and OK button get replaced all the way to the right? It was much better when it was at the left side, since that's where the Update button also is. Now we have to go with our cursor all the way to the right to press Cancel and OK. Kind of a weird decision with no added value, in my opinion.

It shows .1091 because that's the version I've got installed. I was just wondering about this change. Updating now :)

Wow really? Strange. Perhaps some sort of bug then?

Change the language to english and check... maybe it is because of the locale setting?

It's the same in the Hungarian, English and German version here on my OS.

The buttons are in the same location in 6.0.1091 and 6.0.1119, as your picture shows.

It did on mine after 6.0.1091 installed and that was clearly the English version.

You only see the button, if you run a manual update. ;)
Try it.

You are correct.

Good. But I'd still like to know the motivation behind this 'move'. As I said: "It was much better when it was at the left side, since that's where the Update button also is. Now we have to go with our cursor all the way to the right to press Cancel and OK. Kind of a weird decision with no added value, in my opinion."

The button is on the right side only when you are doing a manual update.  If your updates are automatic, you will not see this button.

If you open your Avast GUI > Settings > Updates > Engine and Virus Definitions...is it set for automatic, ask, or manual?

If you open your Avast GUI > Settings > Updates > Program...is it set for automatic, ask, or manual?
