Well, why the second day, again all are silent, do hard to write?

Yes we have a problem, correct.

Remove the link ... then again, that though it was clear that does not work.

I would like to revive the thread.

One Russian user has a problem with manual VPS updates in Avast Free 6.0.1367. Each time he tries to run VPS update files (since Dec 22), he gets an error window saying that an error was discovered in avast.setup and it will be closed. At the same time on-line updates work well.

As I understand there were some issues with off-line update files. Are they resolved?

At the same time on-line updates work well.

Do you mean in the same system, the normal updates are working and the full VPS won't? Or, do you mean that normal updates are working as a general statement?

If the normal updates are working in the same computer, then maybe the problem was when downloading the full VPS, or some other "glitch" while performing the specific update. I would suggest cleaning the web browser's cache and downloading the VPS again, then reboot before applying the full VPS update (at least for this time, so to test it).

If we are talking about a different system, then running anew the setup.exe of avast (no need to uninstall, just run it over) and then reboot should repair the full updates, but it may be necessary to update the definitions again after the setup.exe (again, with the respective reboot in between).

The problem (a couple of weeks ago) was already resolved and the full VPS update was re-posted. If it has a problem again, that's another story. I have not tested it myself since its last reposition on the website (http://www.avast.com/download-update, but the real size is about 41+ MB).

As far as I'm aware they were resolved or the avast6 vpsupd.exe wouldn't be on the http://www.avast.com/download-update page.

Of course the user would have to download the avast6 update and not the one for avast4.8.

Same problem here with 6.0.1367.

Can update thru Avast when online but a manual update with vpsupd.exe always results in an error message "avast.setup has encountered a problem and needs to close"

The problem isn't solved. The Russian user is going to re-install OS Windows on his computer.

Unless there are other problems, why would you install the OS for a problem with 1 program ???

I know that and thought you might ask him that question. :)

Some people prefer to cure a headache with an ax instead of aspirin. :) Sometimes it helps. :) With computers, of course. :)

And some developers do not deign to acknowledge that they have problems or do not want.

Not all users are educated, because of their age and education.

What to do? Already asked the question on the English branch, but no answer .. but the problem remained.

Probably not from the original and reinstall the operating systems people.

And all of a need to alert the user that there is a problem with it in different languages.

That is so for example, as has been before this.

The binary was corrupted. We removed it from web. It should appear asap. Sorry for inconvenience -lukas.hasik.
