I have a feeling I will be turning it off when this change happens...

... so will I I'm afraid ... I won't let the modules triggering auto-sandboxing decide on their own what should and what should not be virtualized.

I feel the same way if there is no ability to at least change the default settings to Ask and I lose that level of control, it is most likely it would be disabled rather than be left on Auto.

I don't even let the Behavior Shield remain on Auto (but set to Ask) and that is probably the most benign of all of the avast shields (some might word that differently, e.g. it doesn't appear to be doing anything). Its been on for about 9 hours and has scanned 5 events. Mind you I have unchecked the Monitor the system for unauthorised modifications as I have plenty of cover in that area.

Like I said, to me that is not proper behavior and makes no sense. Even when I clicked on run sandboxed the next time, it did the same thing over again and terminated it.

Sorry, but if you were using Ask mode as a cheap on-demand sandbox, that is over now. ;)
No, I was simply trying to use the test tool which is now nearly impossible to do.  I do also run other things though that get detected by the sandbox. Portable apps and legacy software mostly and like has been said, the new changes make things very inconvenient to get those things to run non sandboxed. It will really be a hassle for some installers.

Easy... Both problems are being working in and it's from avast! side and not your computer.
Thanks for your patience.

Me too.

I don't want to lose that level of control. Also, like spg SCOTT I'm a PortableApps user.

I'm amazed after reading posts here for two days and expected to have problems installing from the GUI. I was prepared with having the downloads necessary for installing a "Fresh" install on my desktop and even refreshed my memory of how to access Safe Mode.  :)

Everything seemed to go with no problems as I updated from the GUI after having v6.0.1367. I did wait to see if the latest definitions were going to download for the old version before updating. Guess everyone was busy at work and not worrying about updating definitions.

Thank you Vlk and Avast Team for the latest version. Well done!

That is the nature of support sites, you don;'t see as many queuing up to say they have had no problems.

1) Go daddy email blocked, have to switch from port 80 to port 3535
2) Sites that require anti-virus are blocking systems with avast! 7 because they don't know what it is.
3) When in stalling avast! version 6, installer says "this version is outdated" and forces users to install 7 with no choice.

How do I stop this.  I am being overwealmed with tech support calls from paying customers.  We can't force paying customers to buggy products.  They will bail!  HELP!!!!

How do I install avast! 6 pro?  We really need to get our $h!+ together!  Customers are PISSED!!
Sincerely,

I installed Avast 7 though getting the pop-up notice of the update.  I had that Finish the Installation screen every time I rebooted.
I had to Uninstall Avast through Add/Remove programs and the Program Uninstaller
Got a new version downloaded.  Works great!  I turned off Web Rep, because I have WOT and like that better.
