PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5.0200.0

Be aware of the Ask toolbar, etc. in the installation/update process (uncheck it as an option).

PDF-XChange Viewer v2.5.0200.0

Website: http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer

Release Notes: http://www.tracker-software.com/PDFXV_history.html#2.5.0200.0
There is something wrong with this version. The installer hangs at the end when it says "Finishing Installation" and has to be shut down through the task manager. It did it when I used the Live Update and it did it after uninstallation, leftover folder deletion, registry cleanup, reboot and new install from scratch. I even tried turning off Avast and it still hangs. It seems to be installed but it didn't do the file association or browser integration.

Installed fine here. Did you uninstall the previous version? Perhaps a clean install might help?

I just used the live update and that completed with success and the program is working as it should. File associations and context menu integration. I got lots of pop-ups during the live update/install from my firewall for changes (I have it set on high sensitivity); having initiated the live update from the PDF reader just before the end of the installation it said I had to close PFF-XChange (which I did).

I never allow PDF browser integration, the last thing I want to do is open a PDF file within the browser, I download and view off-line.

I said in my post that I tried everything. I just uninstalled and tried to install the previous version. The same thing happened. Then when I opened it I had to set the association and browser integration (which I definitely want). I tried to use the update from within the program and it downloaded and hung up again. It did not prompt to close the program down or anything. When I stopped it through task manager and opened the application, it said it was still on the older version. I then did the live update from the start menu and it redownloaded the new one, and hung at the end of installation again. I have no idea why this is happening now but it seems like the program is installed and working. I have notified Tracker of the problem.

Why would you recommend this when avast! has its own Password manager?

He isn't recommending the program simply informing those that use it that there is an update available.
Enough discussions.  :)
