Sorry kids but install with caution. I have 3 older (circa 1-1998 and 2-2002) computers.  2 of the 3 are now having problems booting.  I am currently in safe-mode on both trying to decide what to do.  System restore somewhat helped but  my registration with V7-free was eliminated. I am now considered to be within the 14 day trial period of V7 Pro.  I'm afraid to turn this computer off (the only one working) for fear of something happening .
What OS? What other security software do you have now or ever had? If uninstalled how was it uninstalled?
Just saying you have three older machines is not much help.  ???

I installed 8.x using the built-in updater of 7.x. After installation everything seemed fine, but then I tried watching a YouTube video. This caused both my browsers (IE 10.x and Fx 19.x) to freeze. When I upgraded from 6.x to 7.x I had the same problem, but that time I was having problems with all Flash videos. This seemed to be caused by the combination: Flash & Online Armor Free.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 - all essential updates installed
Flash 11.6.602.171
Online Armor Free 6.0.0.1736

Lucky for me, I made an image before installing 8.x. I will not upgrade until this problem is solved...

My processor is AMD, but I use an ASUS card for graphis:

- AMD A8-3870K BLACK EDITION APU WITH RADEON™ HD 6550D
- ASUS HD5450 SILENT/DI/512MD3(LP) 512MB GDDR3, CLOCK RATE 650MHZ, MEMORY CLOCK 700 MHZ

There is no aswVmm.sys file (or does this file appear after installing 8.x?).

In any case, this shouldn't be happening...

As windows systems allow so many hardware variations there will be some unseen problems. It appears that none of the beta testers have the same system as you, as there were no reports of it during testing

Could you post your details in the linked thread and that will then be picked up

@ essexboy

I've posted my details in the linked thread. In that thread I read something about AMD CPUs, so maybe the solution solves my problem too. It also said this would be fixed in the next version, so maybe I just have to be patient...

You have an AMD5450 graphics card. So you could try the patch.

Ok, then. It's getting late; I will try again tomorrow and report back.

@ DJBone

I decided to go ahead anyway (I can sleep when I'm dead, right?). I followed Spec8472's instructions. The aswVmm.sys file was there, after I upgraded to 8.x, so I replaced it, rebooted et voilà, all is well! I'm a happy camper again, so thanks for the advice!  ;D

Why the Avast installed the Google Chrome without notice or a way to choose not.
I use Firefox and the Chrome open himself after the reboot.
Any explanations?

I wonder why you use that when your APU actually has faster GPU... Much faster.

I kinda hate the Windows 8 format (the stupid 'tiles').

But no problems so far. We'll see!

I alway loved avast and im alway going to be.

Why? Is because its a business of full friendly person. The Team employees and staffs which i guess did evolve very fast so it is very amazing to see...

To who say avast is bad well i CAN tell you one thing... They serve you with respect so give them some so in exchange i CAN say maybe a little sample send could make a world better and more safe.

We all know that security business is a hard market section to be there. But if your identity is protected well its by business like avast that are giving us an amazing free product.

Thank,
Mr.Agent
