I got the nice green pop-up but it only did a VPS update no dump back to regular release version.
I also tried a manual update and it said I'm up to date with 4.6.684, so it is recognising I'm on the beta version and looking for beta updates, weird ???

I can say this is the first BETA I ever  had with so many bugs!  >:( Especialy exclusion lists in Resident... sorry guys, hard to tell it... but it's bad this time. Looking forward to final version and hope that reported bugs will be fixed...  :-\

We've also had very little interaction from the Alwil team on this beta.
Usually, we report a problem and it's taken care of???

They are obviously busy trying to resolve the problems, I hope ;D

I guess that is the joy of beta testing, it doesn't always run as smoothly as hoped.

Aside from the Duplication of the Exclusions list (I think I'm up to 5 duplicate sets), at first I only had Two copies One in lower case the other on Upper Case, now they are spawning more duplicates.

I have noticed that this also creates a wrapping of two exclusions on the same line, the Last exclusion in a Set plus the First exclusion in the next Set are on the same line (see image). I don't know what the consequence of this having two exclusions on the same line would be?

Watch them spawn :o I think it will grow by one set each day/boot when avast starts.

Strangely enough the one I added d:\zeicartest\ hasn't been replicated, there is only one of those, but that may have been stuffed up because of the two exclusions one one line.

I did see the bit about duplicates:
Quote
If i'd open that panel 5 times,i'd have 5 duplicated entries.
It's kinda serious bug.

But I saw nothing about the wrapping of the last and first line when the set is duplicated and that is really what I was reporting, which is what the arrows in the images were pointing at.

Sorry for the lack of response, guys - we have some national holiday here, so people are mostly out of work. I'd expect more updates on Thursday.

From the previous posts of this thread, I can see two bigger problems:
- exclusions are corrupted (both Standard Shield and Web Shield, it's probably the same code)
- automatic updates setting is not persisted

Then, there were some other problems mentioned:
- some problems with Web Shield (happened once to Rejzor... might be very hard to reproduce); not saving the Silend mode status in ODBC?
- different behavior of Quick scanner

Command line in the scheduled task is:

"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe" C: D: E: F:

the "Start in:" folder set to:

"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4"

alanrf, could you please try to change the command line to
"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe" C:\ D:\ E:\ F:\
and see if it makes any difference?
Thanks!

Made the change you proposed.  The result was that the C: drive was fully scanned from root and all sub-directories.  No change for the other drives which had been fully scanned before and continued to be with the change to the command line.

So, if I understand it correctly, ashQuick behavior only changed for X: command line; previously, it scanned the whole drive (which would probably be the expected behavior for an antivirus), now it scans the current directory only (which would be the expected behavior for DOS tools, for example)... right?
I'll check what's changed and probably fix it to the previous behavior.
