@CraigB and @bob3160: Successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 Creators Update  :D Also about the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant can I still use that tool even after upgrading to Creators Update?
Use it for what :-\ it's only for upgrading the system.

You can transfer to a stick to upgrade other systems or just delete it.

No it's only for system upgrades, the Windows update function will look after the usual/normal updates.

It took longer than 20 minutes.  I keep getting this Windows Defender notification icon.  Don't know why because Windows Defender is turned off.

You'll need to accept/allow the notification, Defender is part of the system and several parts of it still run even if disabled for another AV, Device Performance and Health ( part of Defender) will be trying to initiate itself.

Preferably you should have disabled WinPatrol before performing the upgrade.

@CraigB: Having Avast installed, I tried to disable the Windows Defender part by disabling real time protection and the other function from the Windows Defender Security Center but all of them enable by itself. Why did Microsoft design like this? Other previous version of Windows 10 this new function wasn't there.

Disable all settings in the Virus and Protection settings (first pic) then scoll to the bottom to Change Notification settings and disable Windows Defender Anti-virus settings (second pic).

Double check through Taskmanager - Startup that Defender is disabled.

Even though the option is there it's not really necessary, a pedantic person might think otherwise but there is always a higher risk of false positives when running secondary scans between two AV's.

Mate, I can't get past disabling real time protection. Once i disable that, it automatically turns back on. I open task manager and under the startup it shows that windows defender is status is enabled. Even disabling windows defender from task manager and turning off the real time protection via the windows defender security center it automatically turns back on.

Is this a bug from microsoft?

After upgrading to Creators update I had to search for the control panel.  Why isn't it in the start menu?  I also noticed that when I go to windows updates it doesn't show the update history.  I wish now that I hadn't upgraded.

@Pondus,

Not quite the same music as before but I don't like the control panel not being in the start menu, if it is I couldn't find it and I don't like not being able to see the update history.

Edit: typo

Hi -midnight,

Set it back then, and how to do just that is being described neatly here:
