I wasn't expecting to get a windows update today.  I always thought it was on the 2nd Tuesday every month.

As Bob said, not always.

Though out of sequence updates tend to be security related try a search on the KB number for more information on its content.

However, the link Bob gave doesn't directly mention any security related issue/bug being fixed.  Just downloading mine now.

If you are referring to the most recent win10 update in Bob's post in Reply #1754 above, then I wouldn't wait but use the Windows Settings, check for Updates.

Probably in the archives. Windows 7 hasn't been the latest OS for a very long time. :)
I remember posting about doing a premier of Windows 7 for Microsoft. Even received a special autographed
CD of Windows 7.

Windows 7 support ending in 2020, wonder if it's ok to use after that.

Since there are still plenty of people using Windows XP, it's a choice you need to make.
I don't understand why you aren't updating your Windows 7 to Windows 10. It's still a free upgrade. :)

Is it really a free upgrade yet? though i fear lack of drivers for my laptop cause of switchable graphics (it's running integrated + dedicated card)

If you don't like the default Windows Search (Bing) and Edge, Change It.
