If you are eager to get Windows 10 and don't want to wait till christmas, I strongly suggest you Google in "install windows 10" to land up on the microsoft web site were you can download the proper iso image (32 or 64 bits) to burn a DVD for upgrading. If you want to save your applications and personnal files, just open the pc, put in the DVD, plug the internet wire, and click on the iso. Took me about 4 hours to install on a up-to-date win 8.1 laptop and...20 hrs to find the way to burn the file. Personnaly, it worked from Ubuntu. Warn you some drivers are still to be worked on. See how they go, if you loose some functionality like with my touchpad on my desktop were I couldn't scroll anymore, just roll back to the last one driver you had. I think going to Windows 10 is a move that is the way to go because of the extended support for example!
