SC Magazine awards 2006.
« on: October 20, 2005, 11:38:06 AM »
I wonder if it is only me as I am in New Zealand, but when I try to find Avast in the anti virus section in the awards, it is not there! The links from the Avast home page don't work for me (Opera 8.2) and when I got to the magazines site Avast is not listed in the USA or Europe section. Anyone else had yhis happen to them?

It was there a couple of days ago because i and many others from here voted ,see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=16912.msg143574#msg143574
maybe someone there has seen too many votes coming in for the AV that doesnt pay for huge advertisements in their mag and made a "business decision"  :-\ wont make any difference to my day

I've just had a phone call with the organizers.
The problem was, they were getting too many votes for avast that their server could barely handle it ;D

Hopefully, they'll add us to the list of nominees soon...

Vlk, does this explanation convince you?
Really strange... I could never vote, in any time in any way... server is always down  :P
What kind of vote is this?

I've voted a couple of days ago. No problem at all, using Opera 8.5. Everything was working on the website.

Okay, I've just come back from the magazines website and NOWHERE in the USA or Europe catagories for Best Antivirus is Avast listed. It has been removed!

sounds suspect to me if we were nominated from day 1 until around 8 hrs ago and suddenly we dropped off the list of nominees???
gonna be hard to give respect to the end result when potential voters have tried and failed so often and who`s to say when Avast! gets back on that the accumulated votes are retained. ::)
do I sound cynical? 8)

You can get there with this link http://www.scawards.com/

But it doesn't matter, avast! is removed from the voting list :( http://www.scawards.com/vote3.asp?Area_ID=1&Cat_ID=3

maybe avast! will win as the AV with the most write in votes  ::)

I managed to get FastGame's link just once... and I saw that page. However, there is no Alwil Software listed. I suppose those are just company names, and not specific product names. Alwil starts with "AL..."

Take a look at screenshot... there is no Alw... in the list.

Every single time I tried that link after the first time, it was giving me "Service unavailable" message...  ???

I guess if they have removed avast/Alwil from the voting list all votes cast are being ignored by SC Magazine. I guess it shows the quality and integrity of SC Magazine to remove a product from the listing when voting is in progress. So I guess if we ever did purchase it we should ignore them too.

Why they removed only avast! from voting  >:(
I don't think that no one has less voting than avast! , and they only removed avast!, because the servers didn't handle the voting. This seems very suspicious to me !!!

As I said, they removed avast because there were too many votes coming for it (that the server infrastructure couldn't handle it).
I was told that it was roughly 3 times more than all votes belonging to all remaining products ;D ;D ;D

So they were assuming we were using some kind of a robot to generate the votes. Anyway, we explained to them that this is not the case, and hopefully, they'll soon return avast to the list.

Thanks
Vlk
