SOLVED-no icon animation when scanning also 2016.11.2.2262

I can firm lack of icon animation on file scan.
Works for Web but not for files.
Reporting it to Avast.

It is certainly intermittent - I have just run the Smart Scan (whilst replying in this topic) and the tray icon was animated.

That said it wasn't running all the time, it seemed to do a batch and pause and then another.

Were you totally disconnected from the Internet ?
Mine spun but only while still having the browser open. Once I shut it down, no more animation.

OK, will give that a try later.

EDIT: Issue confirmed, when I have the browsed closed there is no activity on any on demand scan, either right click scan or any on-demand scan from the Scan for viruses list.

I was hoping the same thing but no luck.. I noticed something as well.. unticking "show avast icon" doesn't do nothing..

That makes sense and clears up our misconception.
It's nice once in a while that it's our assumption that was the problem. Not the program.

its good to know -BUT i think nobody knew it ....
you can read all 4 pages what i went through this issue and it was for nothing!
i suggest change the option "animate the icon when scan"
to something much comprehensive....

I wouldn't say it was for nothing.
We now have an answer that makes sense and aren't likely to forget that the spinning icon only applies to real time activity.
