Change your DNS to the one from Google and check if the update is working.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. It solves the problem. It happened even when I was using data only. So I doubt it was DNS.

In my case it did help but now I can't connect my avast account anymore (mobile security as well as in anti theft).

It says "authorisation failed, please contact support". Login into the avast account in the browser works. So it's not a wrong password or something. Any help for this?

Hi, you need to install the new app version (6.6.0 or higher), which supports Android 8. This version has been rolled out to 5% of users, the rest will follow probably this week.

We also recommend you a clean reinstall:

1) Uninstall all Avast apps installed in your device. To uninstall the Avast Mobile Security just follow these steps:

- go to your mobile device's settings
- go to "Security"
- go to "Device administrators"
- uncheck/deactivate the "Avast Mobile Security"

- now go back to the device settings
- go to "Apps" or "Application manager" (depends on the Android version)
- pick "Avast Mobile Security"
- uninstall Avast Mobile Security

2) Once you uninstall all Avast apps make sure the "Avast" account located in your "device settings - Accounts" disappeared

3) Delete the device from your account

- log in to your My Avast Account
- click on the device with the issues
- click on "Settings" button
- click on "Delete from account"

4) Re-install all Avast apps and sign back

This will fully reset the communication between the device and the portal. Hopefully, it will help to solve the issue.

Thanks for that answer.

I did exactly follow those instructions but the avast account doesn't dissappear from the settings. Also I  can't delete it manually. It says that the administrator doesn't allow to delete the account. I triple checked the device administrators. There avast is switched off (or even dissappeares after uninstall)
But still can't get rid of the avast account in the settings. I  by the way using android oreo

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it the last time it happened. Why do I have to do it again?

Thinking of getting rid of Avast anyway, the level of popup ads is getting far too intrusive.

Are you sure you are installing official avast. There are no pop up ads in the mobile app.
