This occurs in previous versions too. The AVAST Outlook plug-in does not appear to work when Outlook is invoked in the background from Windows Explorer. If I use explorer to browse a folder, right click on a .jpg (picture) file, right click and select "send to mail recipient", then click "attach", Outlook is invoked in the background to create the email message. Outlook crashes with the exception shown below with the faulting module being the AVAST plug-in. This is 100% repeatable on my Windows-7 / 64-bit system. If I disable the Avast plug-in from within Outlook, Outlook is invoked without crashing.
Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 12.0.6514.5000, time stamp: 0x4a89dc70
Faulting module name: ashOutXt.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4be3295f
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x030c9ac7
Faulting process id: 0x149c
Faulting application start time: 0x01caedec0fd5c8f7
Faulting application path: D:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE
Faulting module path: ashOutXt.dll
Report Id: 4df23485-59df-11df-a040-0016e6dbbdf4
Additional note.... If I start up Outlook separately and minimize it before performing the above steps, Outlook does not crash. The email with attachment is created fine. So this appears to be a plug-in initialization bug of some kind.
Thanks.
