How many times have you used this method of updating ???
Twice, maybe 3, can't recall for certain.  And one of those times was just to watch it work, out of curiosity.

So I'm well aware this is a minority issue, if that is what you are getting at.  And its no sweat off my back, personally, being as I'm in the majority who auto-update my defs.

I'm just thinking outside the box, or rather MY box.  If all I thought about was how Avast! relates to my system,  I wouldn't be much of an "Evangelist" (not that I'm the gold standard by any means  ;)).

You probably totally misunderstood what I posted.
Since there isn't anything we can do, there also isn't any
reason to prolong this thread till we have something positive to report.
Anything else is simply chatter.

As Gargamel360 is still using avast! Free 6.0.1000 when it is now 6.0.1367 then they are simply just chattering.

Didn't realize it was a rhetorical question.
As to anything posted further till it is fixed being "chatter".....well, we will have to agree to disagree then.  What you see as...."respectfully waiting" (I guess?), I see as something maybe being swept under the rug, for a myriad of possible reasons.  But either way, I've said my piece.

As Gargamel360 is still using avast! Free 6.0.1000 when it is now 6.0.1367 then they are simply just chattering.
If you keep staring at signatures all day, you will go blind.  I am pretty lazy about updating my Sig., but not my software.

Sigh......man, just go watch RCAF, please. I could go any number of places to be called cheap and lazy (my ex's place, for example)........this is not one of them.

We are definitely OT now, so please stop it.

Other than that, I must say I cannot understand why Avast Team has not comment on this issue louder. We already know they are working on it, but they didn't comment at all here in the forum.

About the full VPS for offline updates, I disagree with the comments about not being important. Sure, most users would not use it, but those with offline systems indeed use it all the time. They may not get infected by on line malware, but other ways of spread still exist, so updating once in awhile is still needed.

Let's hope this fix won't take too long. And now, please, let's add useful info (like for example news about this issue being resolved), instead of useless OT comments. Thank you all.

Here's the information received from Avast:

Till we hear more or the fix is made, there isn't anything else any of us can do.

That's not from Avast Team, but only a copy that a common user posted, quoting an answer he received. So? We already read it, and the same link was already posted several times, while the faulty download is still available. Moreover, I already knew that they knew about the potential issue 48 hours before that post. Again, no official comment, which would be now worthless anyway.

We agree on one thing, there are no news yet, and Avast Team for sure already know what it is expected from them now. Let's simply wait for the resolution of this.
