Confirmed: Windows 10 Home users to receive forced updates

  http://www.ghacks.net/2015/07/17/confirmed-windows-10-home-users-to-receive-forced-updates/

After Reading the article I definitely DO NOT like this idea at all, for the obvious reasons cited.
This will have consequences I think, not advantageous for MS.

Wait forced updates? Don't they already do that sorta out of the box for windows 8? I mean it's set to automatically install updates, most people prefer this.. So will updates like security fixes and such be handled differently?

Having read this I think I've changed my mind about upgrading to win 10.  I don't want any forced updates.

Most of the infected systems I've run into had not been updated. The infection was usually a direct result of a breach
that could have been prevented if  updates had been done in a timely manor. Updating enhances your security.
I personally have no objections to making updates a matter of course.
If they happen in the background, the system will always be as up to date as possible and, as secure as possible.
Only the downloading should be forced. We need the ability to delay installation until a convenient time.

Thanks Bob
How do the 2 Browsers compare in your experience (IE vs MS edge)?
At this point, I still prefer IE. Many of it's best features are not implemented in Edge. No tracking protection lists ( so no ad blocking, makes ad heavy sites very slow), no choice of search engine (yet, hopefully they fix that).

Thanks Dch48, that is what I'm looking for; real time comparison by folks that are/have actually used both and can provide their input/opinion on the comparison as I don't/have not installed the preview.
I also don't like the hub thing, have no need for writing on pages, and have no desire to use Cortana.

I want my Windows 10 to be 8.1 with the gaming enhancements of Direct X 12. I intend to set it up that way as much as possible.
Not all of us use our systems the same way even if we run the same OS. :)
If you don't like something, shut it off or, don't use it. It's always nice to have more features than less as long as you have the option to choose
which options you want to use. Cortana just like it's predecessors on other systems, is a very handy tool.
The feature is also a great help for many with disabilities. :)
Bob, I was stating why IE is still better than Edge to me. I don't need some of the Edge features and I do want some IE features in Edge that right now are missing. You're a good guy but sometimes you get like too much of a forum cop.

Not a forum cop just expressing my opinion. You aren't the only one that has one. :)

Absolutely, anything else is going to be trouble.

I just upgraded my Windows 8.1 32 bit Laptop to Windows 10 using a DVD created from
Windows 10 build 10240

Bob, does this mean you're using your Insider key? Or, on contrary, you're using the OEM key of Windows 8.1?

Mine wasn't an OEm windows 8 install. This computer was originally running Windows Vista. I upgraded it to Windows 8 and then 8.1

I didn't have to supply a key during the install. I can only assume that a check was made during the upgrade.
There is now a new key other than the original Windows 8 key.
Next I'll be doing this same upgrade on an old computer that started out with Windows Millennium and has been updated to it's current 8.1 status.
Wish me luck. here's what this computer looks like:

Although I have joined the Insider Program of Windows 10, I couldn't test that much due to space limitation in my computer and, mostly, time  :-X
Seems I'll wait for July 29th.
