i have a question if i don't have up to date signature data base then will avast free version provide me protection from viruses?
To a point. Not having the latest vps (definitions) is playing with fire. It's always best to have the latest vps update to ensure protection.  :)

Updating to v8 gives me a green screen on every flash video and graphic-accelerated video players. ATI 4770 here...
same here, tried on Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer with same results, flickering green screen on every single video in youtube and similar flash players. I did a clean install and rebooted, i have tried disabling all shields but the problem is still there, only solution is uninstalling v8. ATI 4830 here.
Edit: looks like disabling Flash Player Hardware Acceleration solves the problem but this is not a proper solution.

Having some problem with streaming updates:

Streaming updates: Enabled

Connection: Connection not established

When i restart streaming updates, so it works for a minute, then I lose my connection again.

Did not work in V.7 either.

How do i get streaming updates connection to work all the time?

 :o :o :o :o

1. WebRep, SiteCorrect and Browser integration should not be in the main settings, best to move it to security > tools.
2. Need the ability to add filters  for multiple languages in AdBlocker

Everything else is perfect! Thx!

Downloaded new avast 8. May be a possible bug?
1 pressed scan button & selected select folder to scan ie windows folder only. Scan running as normal.
2.Pressed scan computer tab by accident and quick scan started running??. Ie TWO VIRUS SCANS STARTED TO RUN!!!! Had to stop one of them. Otherwise running great!

It has been possible to run 2 different scans at the same time since v6.

Streaming updates happen on an as-needed basis.
Have you rebooted?
If that doesn't work try a repair. Control Panel>Programs and Features>Uninstall a program>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot  :)

Since v5.0 honestly. A user has the option to run multiple scan at the same time. The only down-side is that it may slow down your system.  8)

Ah When you press the scan TAB WITHIN THE GUI THE QUICK SCAN RUNS REGARDLESS!!!! DID NOT DO THIS IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF AVAST!!!!!! You Could choose and select what type of scan to do! DEF a bug compaired to avast 7. Will just have to stop the quick scan if doing a deeper scan for a FULL SYSTEM SCAN!

A BIT ANNOYING!

You can choose the default scan. Open the scan type>More details>Check default scan.

Installed it on my W2000 drive and so far so good.  :)

Reminds me of the old gui from years ago............I liked the last better.

The only difference on W2K is the autosandboxie doesn't work.

Hello AVAST users!

avast! 8 is now ready! The build number is 8.0.1482.

We introduce following major changes:
* New edition - avast! Premier
* Software Health module
* Browser Cleanup tool
* New User Interface
* Data Shredder (Premier only)
* AccessAnywhere (Premier only)
* Improved Autosandbox/Sandbox technlogy
* Improved General AV performance and stability

What about the AdBlocker? No mention of it?

Activated the Add Blocker in AIS, in Chrome's extensions window it is disabled. Click enable, goes disabled immediately.

I have the Adblock Plus extension installed and active in Chrome, if I disable Adblock Plus, the Avast Add blocker stays activated. If I reactivate Adblock Plus, the Avast Add Blocker is immediately disabled.

Is it Chrome, Avast Add Blocker, or Adblock Plus?

Google Chrome Version 25.0.1364.97 m
Windows 8 Pro
Adblock Plus 1.3.4
