W10 Home version 1607 does not have the Gaming Mode option.  Maybe there is that?

I run Win 10 Pro and apparently no Gaming Tile.
As you can see from my screenshot, I have the Gaming setting in my Pro version. :)

Oddly enough as you can see I do not. :)

As I mentioned before, I believe it isn't in the settings interface if you aren't using the Creators Update version.

Quote from: DavidR
Unless I turned Gaming Mode off (which I can't recall), there is no Game Mode in Win10 1607 (build 14393.1198). I did a search in the win10 settings and that returned no hits for gaming mode or game mode. Unless this has only been introduced in the Creators update.

So have you installed the Creators update on your win10 systems ?

Thanks David and there in lies my misunderstanding and obvious miss of info.
I have not installed The Creators Update so that explains it.

You're welcome.

This isn't a cast iron certainty, but would need more Win10 1607 (build 14393.1198) version users to confirm.

There is also the other matter of the Win10 EU 'N' version with the restrictions on media stuff, but I wouldn't have thought this would also impact Gaming.

Sorry, just changed my specs. I'm on Windows 10 Pro v 1703 and I am not running the N version.

Okay, but what does the "N version" stand for? Nightly?

I don't know about the N version but the Gaming options were only introduced since the Creators build release, on my Pro versions anyway as I don't have any home versions at hand to check.

No (as in my Reply #1621) it is like many other Alphabet suffixes/prefixes, they seem not to make any sense at all. In this case it is down to EU rulings on anti-competitive practices. The bit about having installed software in the OS (that disadvantages other Media players, companies) the media player for instance (and from old ruling the Browser, IE had to show alternative browsers).

So those living outside the EU are unlikely to get the 'N' version, whatever the hell 'N' means. Even harder/stranger is the fact that there is no 'N' suffix on the windows information in 'winver' Not to mention there is no Windows OS Certificate of authenticity sticker on my win10 home 64bit laptop.

Using classic Paint after Creators Update:

https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/classic-paint-windows-10-creators-update/
vs:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/70188-restore-paint-app-windows-10-a.html

Those of you who have Windows version 1703 can see (and share with those who don't have it yet) which of the conflicting articles (1 or 2 & 3) is correct on whether "mspaint.exe" will launch the old or new paint program.

As you can see, it opens the standard paint with a button to launch Paint 3D
